MEETING/MIXER: September 12th 7:30-9:30 LOCATION TBD Clairemont High School 4150 Ute Dr San Diego, CA 92117 Clairemont High School Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, #33-0551164 The self-guided tour includes a dozen or so gardens, each one unique. You’ll see gardens that are beautifully ornamental, with charming water features, gathering spaces, koi ponds, etc. There will also be gardens that feature succulents, Native California plants, drought tolerant/water wise plants and rain capturing, edibles and more. Clairemont’s unique terrain includes many canyons, which make for some very special gardens. With our current drought conditions, it’s great to see how gardens can be water-wise and still very attractive, using color, rocks and boulders and efficient irrigation systems.
Many of the gardens will feature special guest experts on a variety of topics, such as fruit trees, bees, composting, rainwater harvesting, pest control, even representatives from San Diego Master Gardeners. And you’ll find garden décor for sale, and a couple of gourmet food trucks so you won’t go hungry! Come be surprised and delighted by the incredible gardens that Clairemont residents have created. You’ll be inspired and helped in creating the garden of your dreams! Who would know about these hidden gems if the Clairemont Garden Tour didn’t find them and invite you to experience the creativity of your neighbors?! There are many garden tours around San Diego, with many professionally landscaped gardens. One of the unique charms of the Clairemont tour is that many here are owner-designed and maintained. You’ll see that a little research and effort can result in a garden you can be proud of, without necessarily paying a lot to have someone else do it for you. You will be impressed at the vision and execution of our Clairemont residents.
